Témiscamingue

An old man and a young man; a storyteller and a listener; hours of routine work conducive to sharing thoughts and stories. The scene is set for these short anecdotal stories. But what stories could a caretaker, working for a Timiskaming diocese in the sixties, possibly have to tell? Quite a lot, as it turns out, for an astute observer of your surroundings, when you are passionate about local history, when you have a rich, diverse past, when you have a strong personality and a colourful vocabulary, and when you have an attentive listener hanging on your every word. Meet Mr. Terrien, a gruff yet endearing storyteller of the Timiskaming of yesteryear. Throughout the 17 chapters that form Témiscamingue, Robert Major captures these stories, which are part of the region’s oral history.Published in French.
