Regulating Deep Sea Mining

Dr. Klaas Willaert works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Law and Criminology of Ghent University. The law of the sea is his area of expertise and he is now conducting research into the legal aspects of deep sea mining. Through the years, he presented his research at various international conferences, produced numerous academic publications, provided independent legal consultancy, and participated in the ISA Council meetings as part of the Belgian delegation.
