Dr. Yacouba Diawara is currently the Detector Group leader at the Spallation Neutron Source. He received his Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and a M.Sc in Physics, both from the University of Québec at Trois-Rivières (Canada). He completed his PhD in Engineering Physics from Montréal Ecole Polytechnique and held a postdoctoral fellowship at INRS-Energie (Canada). As a research scientist, he has led several R&D or Engineering Groups for different organizations such as the Montréal Ecole Polytechnique, Bruker AXS (Madison, WI), the Spallation Neutron Source (Oak Ridge, TN), IAEA Nuclear Science and Instrumentation laboratory Head (Vienna, Austria) and the DOE NBL Program office Director. These different Groups developed many commercial radiation (x-ray, gamma-ray, charged particle and neutron) detectors and processes which are currently used in scientific instruments, research reactors and accelerator-based beamlines.
