      This proceedings book discusses developments in air, gas and refrigeration compressors, vacuum pumps, and expanders. It is the 14h edition of the International Conference on Compressors and their Systems, a three-day conference organized by the Centre for Compressors Technology at City St George’s, University of London supported by, among others, IMechE, IIR, and IOR.The International Conference on Compressors and their Systems series began in 1999 as a result of industrial consultation and need for academic collaboration. At the time, the conference was organized by the Fluid Machinery Group of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) with support from Holroyd. From 2009, the Centre for Compressor Technology at City, University of London, took over its management and the conference is now one of the main conventions, taking place biennially in the UK, becoming world-renowned for its place in industry and academia to gather and discuss a broad range of topical issues related to compressors and compression systems.The theme of this conference is "Emerging Technologies in Compressors and their Systems".

      Professor Kovacevic holds his first degree in mechanical engineering from University of Sarajevo (1986) and postgraduate degrees in mechanical engineering from University of Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina (M.Sc. 1997), and The City University, London, UK (Ph.D. 2002). Following his appointments as Researcher at University of Sarajevo (1986), Assistant Lecturer (1989) and Lecturer (1992) at the University of Tuzla, he joined City University London (1998) as Research Fellow in the Centre for Positive Displacement Compressor Technology. He was appointed as Senior Lecturer in mechanical design at The City University (2004) and was promoted to Howden Chair in engineering design and compressor technology in 2008. Among other prizes and awards, in 2020 prof Kovacevic received James Clayton prize for contribution to fluid machinery from IMechE and in 2025 the J&E Hall Gold Medal from Institute of Refrigeration. In 2020 Prof. Kovacevic became prestigious Howden/Royal Academy Research Chair in Compressor Technology from RAEng. Prof. Kovacvic is Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, FIMechE and FRSA. Matthew Read is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at City St George’s, University of London and a member of the Center for Compressor Technology. He received the degree of MEng in Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering from the University of Cambridge, following which he obtained a PhD from Imperial College London. His research interests are in the fields of low temperature power generation, waste heat recovery and compressor and expander technologies. He also has a long standing interest in power-train hybridisation, transmissions and energy storage systems, which was the subject of his Doctoral Thesis.Dr Sham Rane is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Compressor Technology at City St George’s, University of London. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune, India. and worked as a manufacturing engineer at Forbes Marshall India Pvt. Ltd. He continued his education at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in the Mechanical Engineering department with specialization in Design of Mechanical Equipment. In 2008, Dr Rane joined ANSYS FLUENT India Ltd. In 2014, Dr Rane was appointed as a Research Fellow at the Centre to carry further developments in CFD analysis in positive displacement machines. In 2018, Dr Rane joined as a Research Fellow at the Department of Engineering Science at University of Oxford in Computational Aero-Thermal Engineering for Two-Phase Geothermal Turbines. Currently, at City St George’s, University of London, Dr Rane has been involved in development of grid generation technology and works actively in software development which is available as SCORG tool via PDM Analysis Ltd. His research interests are on analysis of multiphase flows in twin screw compressors, extension of the CFD modelling to oil injected and ORC application rotary vane compressors and expanders.Ms Ivona Ivkovic-Kihic is a Research Project Coordinator at City St George’s, University of London and the Co-Chair of the 14th International Conference on Compressors and their Systems. She holds her BsC and MsC degree in Computer Science from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering from the University of Sarajevo, and a second BsC degree in Business from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo. Ms Ivkovic-Kihic is currently pursuing MBA degree at Bayes Business School. With a dynamic career at the intersection of technology, research, and business, her experience ranges from software, web and virtual reality development, to teaching, management and marketing.Halil is a PhD student specializing in Compressor Technology, with a focus on Internally Geared Screw Machines. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Center for Compressor Technology. With a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Sarajevo, Halil began his PhD studies in 2022. Since then, he has been actively engaged in pioneering research and innovative projects within the field of Internally Geared Screw Machines. During his studies, he gained experience through various innovative projects related to software engineering and the application of microcontroller solutions in industrial and other applications. In addition, he is interested in researching new technologies for industrial needs, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR). He is also regularly involved in teaching at City University in London, where he works as an assistant in the Department of Engineering courses.Ms Ivona Ivkovic-Kihic is a Research Project Coordinator at City St George’s, University of London and the Co-Chair of the 14th International Conference on Compressors and their Systems.
