La Novela del Romanticismo Español

This book interrogates a dominant narrative in Spanish literary history that equates the Romantic novel with historical fiction in the manner of Walter Scott. In 17 essays tackling subgenres as diverse as Gothic, epistolary, fantastic or topical fiction, the volume shows how eclectic the 19th-century novel is and allows for a more comprehensive approach to the history of Spanish narrative fiction.
