Peng Zhan obtained B.S., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shandong University, China. Then, he joined the research group of Professor Xinyong Liu as a Lecturer. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in the Graduate School of Medical Science, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. Currently he is a full professor in the Institute of Medicinal Chemistry, Shandong University. His research interests involve the discovery of novel antiviral, anticancer, and neurodegenerative diseases-related agents based on rational drug design and combinatorial chemistry approaches.Luis Menéndez-Arias received a Ph.D. in biology from the Complutense University of Madrid and was trained as a postdoctoral fellow in the Frederick Cancer Research and Development Center, USA. Currently he is a Research Professor of the Spanish National Research Council and group leader at the Centro de Biología Molecular ?Severo Ochoa? in Madrid, Spain. His research is mainly devoted to understanding structure-activity relationships in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) reverse transcriptase (RT), elucidating mechanisms of HIV resistance to antiretroviral drugs, and understanding HIV replication fitness. Luis Menéndez-Arias is member of the editorial boards of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Antiviral Research, Antiviral Therapy, Journal of Biological Chemistry, PLoS One, Virus Research and Viruses.Edeildo Ferreira da Silva-Júnior received a Post-Doc position at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences from Federal University of Alagoas, Brazil. He was granted the Ph.D. degree in Chemistry and Biotechnology also at the Federal University of Alagoas. He performed part of his Ph.D. research at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. Additionally, he has a bachelor degree in Pharmacy and Master degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He is a Professor at the Federal University of Alagoas and his research interests have been addressed on the drug design of novel active compounds against Trypanosoma cruzi, Leishmania chagasi, Malaria, Zika, Dengue, and Chikungunya.Xinyong Liu received his B.S., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shandong University, China. Then, he worked at the Instituto de Quimica Medica in Madrid, Spain as a senior visiting scholar. He is currently a full Professor of the Institute of Medicinal Chemistry, Shandong University. His research interests include rational drug design, synthesis, and antiviral evaluation of a variety of molecules that interact with specific enzymes and receptors in the viral life cycle.
