For exactly 120 years now, the most prestigious award for medical professionals has been awarded in Stockholm. The focus of this book is the history of the Nobel Prize in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With eleven contributions by researchers from Germany, Austria, Sweden, and Switzerland, this book highlights methodological and thematic approaches to interdisciplinary (Nobel) prize research. It examines the selection of prize-worthy ideas from the medical historical perspective and aims to promote a critical debate on the functions of scientific prizes.
