Indonesia

Nearly three years after the fall of Suharto, Indonesia is still experiencing the birth pangs of democracy. As a result, it displays all the characteristics of the transition from authoritarian political system to a democratic one -- a simultaneous process of decay and renewal. This book contains 11 essays that examine Indonesia's chances of succeeding in its journey towards establishing a democratic society.
