Several new concepts have been added to the armamentarium of management strategies in pregnant diabetics and recent studies support the safety of oral hypoglycemics such as glyburide in pregnancy. Atosiban, an oxytocin receptor antagonist is now widely used for preterm labor in the UK and Europe and appears to have the best safety profile and Chapter 3 comprehensively reviews the same. Demand for labor analgesia is increasing and an update on the topic along with intrapartum fetal surveillance is discussed.
