The Land of Sad Oranges draws in its various stories the multiple facets of the Palestinian tragedy, as if it wants the story to be a mirror of reality and memory, and for language to be a set of multiple bows before the human pain embodied in this mirror. The Land of Sad Oranges is Kanafani''s second attempt to establish his creative vision of the Palestinian horizon that he seeks to paint with his words. The horizon comes mixed with memory, as if the Palestinian cannot free himself from his memory in moments of astonishment in the face of tragedy, or as if this memory will be the gateway through which he will pass to where he discovers the only possible path to himself.
