    Beskrivning

In the context of an aging society and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring a healthy life expectancy has become a pressing social concern. Amidst the pandemic's impact on medical systems worldwide, the need for advancements in early diagnosis, minimally invasive treatments, and infectious disease countermeasures has been reaffirmed. The demand for practical solutions, including new drugs, medical devices, and healthcare systems, is vocalized by healthcare professionals. To address these challenges, engineering researchers play a crucial role in swiftly translating their technological innovations into medical applications. In this book, cutting-edge researchers introduce biomedical engineering from materials, devices, imaging, and information. The chapter contributors are major members of the Research Center for Biomedical Engineering, Japan. This text discusses topics on biomaterials (Chapters 1 to 3), medical devices (Chapters 4 to 11), basic medicine and dentistry (Chapters 12 to 15), and medical systems (Chapters 16 and 17). All of the topics are important areas in biomedical engineering.

“With the increasing role of engineering in medicine, this is a wonderful book describing the latest efforts in medical applications of engineering. It is useful for both medical professionals and engineers, as it introduces state-of-the-art technologies for medical applications in data analysis technologies using AI, materials engineering, measurement technologies such as optical and high-frequency imaging, and basic element formation technologies.”Prof. Akinobu TeramotoHiroshima University, Japan“This book adeptly explores biomedical engineering's synergy with science and healthcare. Covering biomaterials, medical devices, and advanced medical systems, it reveals engineering's transformative impact on healthcare. A must-read for professionals and enthusiasts, providing deep insights into groundbreaking innovations shaping the future of medicine. Engaging, informative, and pivotal, this book stands as a beacon in the advancement of biomedical engineering.”Prof. Masakazu KimuraShizuoka University, Japan“The first volume of Biomedical Engineering has received favorable reviews since its publication in 2022; however, it was impossible for a volume to cover all the emerging topics of such rapidly extending research field. In this volume, a wide range of up-to-date biomedical technologies from materials to imaging systems, including electric devices, have been intensively illustrated.”Prof. Kentaro NakamuraTokyo Institute of Technology, Japan
