He was first involved in the development of analog and digital models of nuclear power plants at Electricité de France (E.D.F.). Since 1995 he is a professor in automatics and informatics. His main research interests are computer-aided design of electronic circuits, and the applications of new stochastic global optimization heuristics to various engineering fields. A Chartered Engineer and Chartered Scientist by profession, he was admitted as IET fellow, IMA fellow, BCS fellow, HKIE fellow, HKCS fellow. Dr. Cheung is active in research, with 1 research monograph, 35 edited books and 200 refereed articles in two distinct areas, namely, innovation and technology in education, and software and systems engineering.
