This book was written with the main purpose of describing the many real and potential applications of porphyrinoids, the two most important of which are those which can be used in industrial processes and those brought to the market for medical use.The properties of porphyrins and related tetrapyrroles have been described, limited admittedly, since antiquity. Hemes and chlorophyll derivatives have been used as dyes and pigments.
