Barriers to Employment

Arup Mitra is Professor of Economics, South Asian University, New Delhi, India. Prior to this, he was Professor at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. He has also served as Director General, National Institute of Labour Economics Research and Development (NILERD), Delhi. Professor Mitra was offered a visiting fellowship at the Institute of Developing Economies (Tokyo) in 2005-06, worked as a senior researcher at the International Labour Organization (Geneva) in 2007-08, held the Indian Economy Chair at Sciences Po (Paris) in 2010, and was a visiting professor at the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University (Japan), in 2016-17. The Indian Econometric Society awarded him the Mahalanobis Memorial Gold Medal for his outstanding contributions in the field of quantitative economics and his book on Inclusive Growth (Springer, 2013) received the S.R. Sen best book award in 2019.
