This volume includes seven chapters that detail advances in health and disease. Chapter 1 highlights dietary pattern-based strategies as a central, evidence informed component of comprehensive non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) management. Chapter 2 describes the epidemiological, clinical, and immunopathological characteristics of patients presenting with skeletal muscle involvement as an early clinical sign of systemic vasculitis (SV), especially polyarteritis (PAN) and ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV), as well as the diagnostic approach and therapeutic management. Chapter 3 aims to examine the psychosocial predictors of life satisfaction in women undergoing infertility diagnosis and treatment. Chapter 4 examines the evidence of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) effectiveness and how it can impact transfer of patients from the intensive care unit (ICU). Chapter 5 focuses on the effectiveness of a structured blink exercise regimen as a behavioural therapeutic approach for improving tear film stability among young adult video display terminal (VDT) users. Chapter 6 focuses on anabiosis, a reversible state of biological systems when metabolism is extremely inhibited or suspended and living systems behave as closed ones, and the use of calorimetric methods to study the transition of bacteria to an anabiotic state and back. Finally, Chapter 7 provides a comprehensive discussion of compassion fatigue, its risk factors, symptoms, ethical implications, and preventive strategies, alongside the role of empathy in professional care, associated emotional burdens, and nurses' ethical responsibilities.
