E.H.Shepard’s original, iconic artwork has been reproduced for this 100th anniversary collection so it truly pays homage to the vividness of the original art that accompanied Milne’s classic, favourite stories.A.A.Milne's stories about Pooh and his friends have been loved by generations of children and their parents since Winnie-the-Pooh was first published 100 years ago in 1926. This joint approach to laying out the words and illustrations was clearly the perfect partnership; Shepard entirely captured the charm of Pooh’s world, created by Milne, resulting in the gorgeous books we all know and love. The nation’s favourite teddy bear has been delighting generations of children for nearly 100 years. Milne’s classic children’s stories – featuring Piglet, Eeyore, Christopher Robin and, of course, Pooh himself – are gently humorous while teaching lessons about friendship and kindness.Pooh ranks alongside other beloved characters such as Paddington Bear and Peter Rabbit as an essential part of our literary heritage. Whether you’re 5 or 55, Pooh is the bear for all ages. Some retro reviews of the original publication in the 1920s: “‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ … in which Mr. A. A. Milne has made himself the humble chronicler, and Mr. E. H. Shepard the understanding illustrator, of the adventures of Christopher Robin and his teddy bear, is the ideal gift book.”, Sheffield Daily Telegraph, 9th December 1926“… a book that children will adore, and that their elders will pick up by stealth and read zestfully to the very end.”, The Aberdeen Press and Journal, 9th December 1926“Written with a lively fancy and a delicate literary sense, these adventures are sure of a warm welcome in the nursery.”, The Scotsman, 9th December 1926“Dialogue and situations such as these must have been as delightful to invent as they are delightful to read. And to have one’s fancies so delicately caught by the artistry of Mr. E. H. Shepard – that must have been another delight, which does not come to every author.”, The Sketch, 12th January 1927“When Mr. Milne began four years ago to write verses for his small son, and, through ‘Punch’, had the good fortune to have them illustrated by Mr. E. H. Shepard, he little realised that within a few months five continents would be clamouring for the adventures of ‘Christopher Robin’ and his pets.”, Sunday Express, 21st October 1928441 kr

Alan Bennett reads A.A. Milne's much-loved stories about a small bear and his friends. What is the connection between a bear of very little brain and a honey pot? Usually it's the very sticky paw of Winnie the Pooh, as he takes a break between adventures for a little something. In these five stories, taken from the book 'Winnie-the-Pooh', Pooh goes visiting and gets into a tight place, Eeyore loses a tail, Piglet meets a Heffalump, Eeyore has a birthday and gets two presents, and an expedition is mounted to the North Pole! As usual they are accompanied by Kanga, Roo, Rabbit and Owl - to say nothing of Pooh's very clever young human friend, Christopher Robin. Now with a musical introduction, Alan Bennett's delightful readings bring each and every character in the forest to life. - E-bokEngelska, 2022

A.A. Milne, best known as the author of the classic Winnie-the-Pooh stories, was a successful writer long before his children’s stories launched him to overnight success. At the age of twenty-three, he was appointed the Assistant Editor of Punch magazine. He claimed ‘I know no work manual or mental to equal the appalling heart-breaking anguish of fetching an idea from nowhere.’ But Milne had a talent for regularly turning out a thousand whimsical words on lost hats and umbrellas, tennis, dogs, faulty geysers, dotty maids, women loading film in a camera, the English obsession with rank and titles, cheap cigars, and any amount of life’s other little difficulties. He was praised for being able to produce ‘with apparently effortless ease and the utmost gaiety’ articles notable for their ‘enchanting ingenuity’.But there was another, more serious side to Milne. After serving in World War 1, where he survived the Somme, Milne was invalided home with trench fever in 1916. His experiences made him a committed and vocal pacifist. War was nothing but ‘mental and moral degradation’. His fiercely argued pacifism was ahead of his time, and forms some of his most powerful work. This selection of Milne’s articles, spanning over four decades of his life from 1910 to 1952, are collected for the first time in this volume, including his passionately argued writings on pacifism. The writings demonstrate his trademark wit, varied genius, little-known political views, and nostalgia for a lost era. - E-bokEngelska, 2022

Published in 1922, The Red House Mystery is A. A. Milne's only detective novel and a remarkably clever one at that. Set in a quiet English manor, the story begins with a shocking murder behind a locked door. Enter Antony Gillingham, a curious outsider who decides to play detective alongside his quick-witted friend. What follows is a sharply plotted mystery filled with dry humour, crisp dialogue, and satisfying twists.Milne, better known for his children's stories, brings a light touch to the genre while still crafting an engaging and intellectually playful puzzle.
