Mit der Einführung des im Gesetz gegen Doping im Sport (AntiDopG) normierten strafbewehrten Verbots des Selbstdopings ist der Gesetzgeber in einen Bereich vorgestoßen, der lange Zeit dem organisierten Sport vorbehalten war. Das Strafverbot stellt den vermeintlichen Schlusspunkt intensiver Diskussionen dar. Unter dem Eindruck der Dimension, die Doping im Sport und in der hierauf bezogenen organisierten Kriminalität angenommen hat, erachtete der Strafgesetzgeber bestehende Strafvorschriften und Maßnahmen des organisierten Sports als nicht ausreichend. Alexander Wild greift eine Thematik auf, die in dieser Weise noch nicht behandelt worden ist. Aus der Sicht des in der Bevölkerung gemeinhin nicht als dopingaffin geltenden Lizenzfußballs geht er der Frage nach, ob strafgesetzgeberisches Handeln geboten war. Breiten Raum nimmt hier die Frage nach Prävalenz und Nutzen von Doping im Lizenzfußball ein. In bisher noch nicht dagewesener Intensität arbeitet der Autor das Ineinandergreifen der geltenden Regelwerke und Verfahren auf, mit welchen auf Selbstdoping reagiert wird. Die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse finden ihren Abschluss in der Beantwortung der Frage nach der Legitimität des strafbewehrten Verbots.

This date does not mark the beginning of the arbitration of the CAS in football matters, however it has to be stated, that from this date on football disputes in front of the CAS increased enormously.
