Das hier sind Fragmente meines Lebens, denn die vollständigen Teile meines Lebens habe ich nämlich entweder vergessen, oder sie gehören nur mir. So ist auch das, was hier übriggeblieben ist, mehr eine Chronik als eine Biographie, eine Geschichte über Ereignisse, die mein Leben begleitet haben, so wahr und ehrlich erzählt, wie eine persönliche Geschichte dies überhaupt sein kann.Einen verhältnismäßig großen Teil des Buchtexts machen Briefe, oder Teile meiner Briefe, Reden und Interviews aus.Es schien mir unerlässlich, einige davon ganz oder in längeren Auszügen zu zitieren, denn das sind meine distanzlosen Reaktionen, meine schnellen und manchmal vorübergehenden Kommentare zu laufenden Ereignissen, und damit auch die authentischsten Zeugnisse über sie.
