Mångfald är ett komplext, omstritt och luddigt begrepp. Det får skiftande mening i olika sammanhang: positivt laddat avger det en signal om att värna mänskliga rättigheter, demokrati och vardagsberikande. I negativ mening kommer ofta särbehandling, fördomar och diskriminering till ytan. I Mångfaldsfrågor i kulturmiljövården granskar arkeologen Anders Högberg hur kulturmiljövården i Sverige har hanterat det komplexa mångfaldsarbetet under tio år. Kulturmiljövården är med museerna en av de viktigaste aktörerna i samhället som iscensätter miljöer och aktiviteter där mångfald kommer till uttryck. Men i just det offentliga rummet politiken, samhällsdiskussionen och bland myndigheterna blandas begreppet mångfald ständigt samman med utanförskap, segregation och invandring. Högberg visar hur svårt det är att hantera nyanserade innehåll trots att den berikar och fördjupar uttrycken. Och hur lätt det är att blanda in åtskiljande, exkluderande grepp som kulturrelativism och särbehandling. Om författaren: Anders Högberg är verksam vid Linnéuniversitetet. Hans forskning spänner över ett brett fält med allt ifrån studier om den moderna människans tidiga förhistoria och utveckling till kulturarvs- och kulturmiljöfrågor i vår samtid och framtid. Högberg har arbetat som fältarkeolog vid många stora arkeologiska utgrävningar. Under 2013 arbetar han framförallt i två projekt, dels ett om den tidigmoderna människans kognitiva utveckling för cirka 85 000 år sedan i dagens Sydafrika, dels i en studie av minnes- och kulturarvsaspekter av framtida långtidsförvaring av kärnbränsle.
