Ihre Analyse medizinischer Praktiken und Diskurse um Brustkrebsgene wird ergänzt durch Interviews mit betroffenen Frauen, denen sich ein fragwürdiges Handlungsspektrum bis hin zur prophylaktischen Entfernung von Brust und Eierstöcken eröffnet. In der Studie werden Theoreme Adornos und Foucaults mit qualitativen Forschungsansätzen vermittelt, um so gesellschaftliche Phänomene in individuellen Äußerungen aufzuspüren.
