Andreas Schumacher – författare

Ein interdisziplinäres Forschungsprojekt der Bayerischen Staatsgemäldesammlungen und des Doerner Instituts hat mit den Florentiner Gemälden in der Alten Pinakothek einen der international bedeutendsten Bestände an Malerei aus dem Zentrum der italienischen Renaissance erschlossen. Erstmals wurden die rund 8 Werke, darunter Tafeln von Giotto, Fra Angelico, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Filippo Lippi, Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci und Andrea del Sarto, umfassend kunstwissenschaftlich und technologisch untersucht. Die Beiträge des Bestandskatalogs präsentieren neue Erkenntnisse zu Auftraggeberschaft und Provenienz, verorten das Werk im OEuvre des Künstlers, klären ikonographische Fragen und stellen auch Neubewertungen hinsichtlich der Gattungs- und Funktionsgeschichte vor. Die detaillierte Erforschung der Maltechnik und der verwendeten Materialien legt zudem die Arbeitsmethoden in der Werkstattpraxis offen und ermöglicht ein besseres Verständnis für die Zusammenhänge von technischem und stilistischem Wandel. Vier einführende Essays, die den Münchner Bestand im weiteren kunsthistorischen und gemäldetechnologischen Kontext beleuchten, eröffnen ergänzende Perspektiven auf spezifische Merkmale der Florentiner Malerei vor dem Hintergrund der aktuellen Forschung zur Kunst der Neuzeit in Italien.

Brushwork and poetry – the great awakening of Venetian painting around 1500. In the Venice of the Renaissance, master artists like Bellini, Giorgione, Palma Vecchio and Titian explored the essence of mankind and nature and their relationship to each other with an unprecedented intensity. This attractive volume shows through important portraits and landscape representations the pioneering innovations of Venetian painting, which continued to leave their mark right up to the modern age.
