Andreas Weiss unternimmt einen ersten rechtsvergleichenden Vorstoß auf dem Gebiet des Kirchenrechts evangelischer Freikirchen in Deutschland. Damit einhergehend erforscht er das Kirchenrecht der Evangelischen Landeskirche in Württemberg (als landeskirchliches Vergleichsobjekt), der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mennonitischer Gemeinden in Deutschland, des Bundes Evangelisch-Freikirchlicher Gemeinden in Deutschland und der Evangelisch-methodistischen Kirche und bereitet dieses systematisch auf. Der Autor behandelt Grundlagen, Mitgliedschaft und Mitarbeiterschaft, Ordnung von Gottesdienst und Amtshandlungen, Einrichtungen und Werke, Finanzen, Zusammenschlüsse sowie Rechtsetzung, Rechtsdurchsetzung und Rechtsschutz dieser Kirchen. Dabei vergleicht er die kirchenrechtlichen Institute auf der Mikroebene miteinander.
