Ein kritischer Blick auf das Netzwerk der International Oral History Association.Die Ende der 1970er-Jahre ins Leben gerufene International Oral History Association (IOHA) ist in ihrer Internationalität und Interdisziplinarität einmalig in der Wissenschaftslandschaft. Angetrieben von dem Wunsch, Geschichtswissenschaft zu demokratisieren, wollten ihre Mitglieder den bis dahin ungehörten Gruppen - z. B. Frauen, Arbeitern, Migranten oder den Opfern politischer Gewaltherrschaft - »eine Stimme geben".Die Beiträge setzen sich mit dem wissenschaftlichen Ansatz und den politischen Überzeugungen ihrer Vorgängergeneration auseinander.

Zwischen Familienplanung, Karriere und Sex - Interviews zur Pille in der DDR.Vor 50 Jahren präsentierte der VEB »Jenapharm" das neue Verhütungsmittel »Ovosiston" auf der Leipziger Messe. Als erstes Ostblock-Land schloss die DDR damit rasch an die Entwicklung in den USA und in Westeuropa an. Die kleinen Dragees, mit deren Hilfe Sexualität und Fortpflanzung entkoppelt werden konnten, haben die Sexualmoral und das Verhältnis zwischen den Geschlechtern weltweit revolutioniert. In Abgrenzung von der westlichen »Antibaby-Pille" wurde das Präparat in der DDR offiziell als »Wunschkindpille" propagiert, die es den Frauen ermöglichen sollte, Berufstätigkeit und Mutterschaft miteinander zu vereinbaren.Anhand von lebensgeschichtlichen Interviews mit Frauen und Männern beleuchtet das Buch deren individuellen Umgang mit dem staatlichen Angebot. Archivdokumente geben außerdem Einblick in die Motive der Entscheidungsträger im SED-Politbüro sowie in das Engagement von Frauenrechtlerinnen, Medizinern und Sexualaufklärern.
