This book meets the need for an extensive introduction to the techniques of problem solving in industrial chemical applications. The numerous examples are presented in an easy-to-understand fashion, aimed directly at scientists and engineers working in industry, as well as newcomers in the field. The book also provides a quick, comprehensive and contemporary re-education for practitioners, involving interdisciplinary functions and knowledge in the chemical and related industries. The examples originate from the author's own rich industrial experience and cover a broad area of science and technology. A unique feature is that most of this compilation of examples has been reported in journals or performed in the industrial environment by the author. This is "first-hand", direct problem solving for the chemist in industry.

Converting units from one type of usage to another is a constant and regular problem that engineers and scientists have to solve. This book will therefore be invaluable as it provides a complete coverage of all the conversion factors required. Covering areas such as mechanical units, thermal units, units of physical chemistry, units of light, units of electricity and magnetism and also radiation. References are given throughout and there is a comprehensive index.

Solubility Data Series, Volume 20: Halogenated Benzenes, Toluenes and Phenols with Water contains a comprehensive collection and critical evaluation of published solubility data for halogenated benzenes, halogenated toluenes, and halogenated phenols in water prior to 1983. This volume is concerned entirely with the solubility behavior for condensed systems, such as solid or liquid solutes in liquid solvents, including the general behavior of the evaluated solubilities of water in various organic constituents as a function of temperature. This book focuses on liquid-liquid, solid-liquid, and multicomponent (organic-water-salt) systems. The solubilities of ordinary water and heavy water that have been determined in 29 organic liquids, which in all cases the heavy water was found less soluble than the ordinary water are also elaborated. The halogenated compounds outlined in this text have been organized according to the Hill System. This publication is beneficial to chemists and students concerned with the solubility data for halogenated benzenes, halogenated toluenes, and halogenated phenols in water.
