This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the First and the Second International Workshop on OpenMP, IWOMP 2005 and IWOMP 2006, held in Eugene, OR, USA, and in Reims, France, in June 2005 and 2006 respectively. The first part of the book presents 16 revised full papers carefully reviewed and selected from the IWOMP 2005 program and organized in topical sections on performance tools, compiler technology, run-time environment, applications, as well as the OpenMP language and its evaluation. In the second part there are 19 papers of IWOMP 2006, fully revised and grouped thematically in sections on advanced performance tuning aspects of code development applications, and proposed extensions to OpenMP.

The Third International Workshop on OpenMP, IWOMP 2007, was held at Beijing,China. This year’sworkshopcontinuedits traditionofbeingthe premier opportunity to learn more about OpenMP, to obtain practical experience and to interact with OpenMP users and developers. The workshop also served as a forum for presenting insights gained by practical experience, as well as research ideas and results related to OpenMP. A total of 28 submissions were received in response to a call for papers. Each submissionwasevaluatedbythreereviewersandadditionalreviewswerereceived for some papers. Based on the feedback received, 22 papers were accepted for inclusion in the proceedings. Of the 22 papers, 14 were accepted as full papers. We also accepted eight short papers, for each of which there was an opportunity to givea shortpresentationat the workshop, followed byposter demonstrations. Each paper was judged according to its originality, innovation, readability, and relevance to the expected audience. Due to the limited scope and time of the workshop and the high number of submissions received, only 50% of the total submissions were able to be included in the ?nal program. In addition to the contributed papers, the IWOMP 2007 program featured several keynote and banquet speakers: Trevor Mudge, Randy Brown, and Shah, Sanjiv. These speakers were selected due to their signi?cant contributions and reputation in the ?eld. A tutorial session and labs were also associated with IWOMP 2007.

OpenMP is an application programming interface (API) that is widely accepted as a de facto standard for high-level shared-memory parallel programming. It is a portable, scalable programming model that provides a simple and ?exible interface for developing shared-memory parallel applications in Fortran, C, and C++. Since its introduction in 1997, OpenMP has gained support from the - jority of high-performance compiler and hardware vendors. Under the direction of the OpenMP Architecture Review Board (ARB), the OpenMP speci?cation is undergoing further improvement. Active research in OpenMP compilers, r- time systems, tools, and environments continues to drive OpenMP evolution. To provideaforumforthedisseminationandexchangeofinformationaboutand- periences with OpenMP, the community of OpenMP researchersand developers in academia and industry is organized under cOMPunity (www.compunity.org). This organization has held workshops on OpenMP since 1999. This book contains the proceedings of the 5th International Workshop on OpenMP held in Dresden in June 2009.With sessions on tools, benchmarks, applications, performance and runtime environments it covered all aspects of the current use of OpenMP. In addition, several contributions presented p- posed extensions to OpenMP and evaluated reference implementations of those extensions. An invited talk provided the details on the latest speci?cation dev- opment inside the Architecture Review Board. Together with the two keynotes about OpenMP on hardware accelerators and future generation processors it demonstrated that OpenMP is suitable for future generation systems.

This book contains the proceedings of the 6th International Workshop on OpenMP held in Tsukuba City, Japan, in June 2010. The International Wo- shop on OpenMP is an annual series of workshops dedicated to the promotion andadvancementofallaspectsfocusing onparallelprogrammingwithOpenMP. OpenMP is now a major programming model for shared memory systems from multi-core machines to large-scale servers. Recently, new ideas and ch- lengeshavebeenproposedtoextendOpenMPframeworktosupportaccelerators and also to exploit other forms of parallelism beyond loop-level parallelism. The workshop serves as a forum to present the latest research ideas and results related to this shared memory programming model. It also o?ers the opportunity to interact with OpenMP users, developers and the people working on the next release of the speci?cation. In response to the Call-for-Papers for the technical program, the Program Committee received a total of 23 submissions from all over the world including Asia, USA and Europe, and all submissions were carefully refereed in a rigorous processwhichrequiredatleastthreereviewsforeachpaper, usingtheEasyChair conferencesystem.The?naldecisionswerecollectivelymadeinMarch2010.Due to time and space limitations for the workshop and proceedings, only 13 papers could be selected for presentation and inclusion in the proceedings. We believe we havechosen a diverse, high-quality set of papers, re?ecting a stimulating and enjoyable workshop. Finally, we would like to thank all authors, referees, and committee members for their outstanding contributions which have ensured a continuation of the high quality of IWOMP workshops.
