Hose Variations is the first book by Bjarne Bare. This monograph, as the title suggests, consists of studies of hose variations. It is a study of time in between human interaction, where the dead moment, rather than the decisive, is in focus. The surroundings and placement of each hose reveal their owners character and is a light anthropological study of man, as well as a take on the traditional documentary genre of photography. It consists of Bares recent work from Berlin, Buenos Aires, Lodz, Los Angeles, and Oslo.

Grapnel Grapple consists of a series of images of a grapnel distracted by a piece of rope mimicking movement, functioning as an allegory of the moving ocean. The rather mundane object - set in a classic photographic setting - is standing still while the sunlit rope moves in front of the camera corrupting the protagonist.

MAR consists of recent work by Bjarne Bare made in and around Los Angeles. In MAR, the collection of images suggests an interest in the return to street photography – while simultaneously dealing in matters of abstraction, narration and the picture plane in photographs as pictures. As the title seemingly refers to the majority of the images, depicting details of worn car hoods due to excess sun exposure – it indirectly points to the more casual images, sequenced in between, depicting the disarray of objects surrounding us. As with pictures, the value of focus in the details of the car hoods does not lie in the thing itself, but rather in the particulars carried within their surface.
