Denna bok handlar om uppenbarelsen True Life in God ("Sant liv i Gud")  som pågått i drygt tre decennier, som översatts till 42 språk och spridits över hela världen. Vassula Rydén, av grekiskt ursprung och född i Egypten, levde ett internationellt liv tillsammans med sin svenske man som jobbade för olika utvecklingsorganisationer. Hon ägnade dagarna åt cocktailpartyn, tennis och måleri när hon i november 1985, helt oväntat, fick erfara sin skyddsängels närvaro. Ängelns uppdrag var att förbereda Vassula för något större. I boken beskrivs hennes resa från en närmast tafatt relation till Gud, genom en smärtsam själslig rening till en orädd profetgestalt som världen över vittnat om Guds längtan. Här finns budskap som handlar om allt från vardagligt hushållsarbete till förutsägelser om de stora världshändelserna. Guds vrede över ondskan och synden är inget som döljs, men överträffas av en oändligt mycket starkare kärlek som når ända in i själens djup. Och i centrum av allt – en brinnande längtan efter de kristnas enhet. Boken består av tre delar: Den första är biografisk och beskriver inte bara Vassula utan också den gemenskap av människor världen över som berörts av dessa budskap. Andra delen, som är den mest omfattande, är en tematisk genomgång av själva budskapen. Tredje och sista delen visar på profeternas plats i kyrkan, baserat på den danske teologen Niels Christian Hvidt’s banbrytande arbete. Allt i syfte att sätta in Vassula i ett begripligt sammanhang.
