People Skills for Behavior Analysts provides a much-needed introduction to the people skills needed to succeed as a behavior analyst.
Divided into two primary parts – Foundational Skills and Specialized Skills – this book addresses an impressive breadth of people skills, focusing on intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, collaboration, consultation and training, leadership, and resource development. Relying on recent evidence-based practices and relevant literature tailored to meet the new BACB Task List, Professional & Ethical Compliance Code, and Supervised Independent Fieldwork requirements, the text includes contributions from leading figures from a wide variety of applied behavior analysis subfields to provide a truly balanced overview. The book delves into the literature from fields related to behavior analysis, such as counselling, psychology, graphic design, management and education, and applies these perspectives to behavioral theories and principles to provide students, new graduates, and seasoned professionals with research, best practices, reflective questions, and practical techniques. From reflecting on one’s practice, to learning essential therapeutic skills, running a great meeting, becoming a ‘super’ supervisor, and delivering a memorable presentation, all people skills are included in one place for the behavior practitioner.
This is a valuable resource for undergraduate and graduate students studying Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and will also appeal to recent graduates and behavior analysts looking to improve their existing skillset.

The Clinician’s Manual and its accompanying workbook, I Believe in Me, Not OCB! are the first known manuals to combine cognitive behavioral therapy and applied behavior analysis to treat obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCB) in children and youth with autism. The Clinician’s Manual serves as a practical guide for therapists, beginning with chapters that explain the theoretical underpinnings of OCBs, adaptations for autism, and guidance on clinical and functional behavioral assessment that are key to administering the nine treatment sessions that follow.
Our evidence-based treatment incorporates functional behavioral assessment, CBT skills training, caregiver coaching, and social skills activities in a nine-week progressive program. Caregiver and child report data inform progress throughout the program. Generalization and maintenance are promoted through weekly caregiver coaching modules. Treatment can be delivered in a group or individual format and focuses on reducing OCBs with the ultimate goal of increasing quality of life.
The manual provides all clinician, child, and caregiver instructions as well as materials to implement functional behavior-based CBT with precision. These manuals are a vital resource for clinicians working with autistic children and youth and their families.

Believe in Me, Not OCB! A Workbook for Addressing Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior in Autism with Functional Behavior-based CBT is also referred to as the Children''s Workbook. This workbook accompanies the Clinician''s Manual, Addressing Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior in Autism with Functional Behavior-based CBT. These are the first known manuals to combine cognitive behavioral therapy and applied behavior analysis to treat obsessive compulsive behavior (OCB) in children and youth with autism.
The Children’s Workbook goes hand in hand with the nine structured sessions outlined in the Clinician’s Manual. Each session has a visual schedule that indicates the order of events, and children mark the completion of each activity. As sessions progress, flexibility is encouraged by introducing new OCBs with individualized adaptations (e.g., use of visuals and attempting different coping techniques). Importantly, children can also track their progress over time with a stimulus map. The workbook contains hands-on exercises and a vital worksheet entitled Stepping It Up: Completing My Exposures where children specify coping techniques, exposure steps, and reinforcers given at home.
When the nine sessions are complete, children are encouraged to refer to the Children’s Workbook as a review of FB-CBT strategies that were successful during treatment and what to do when new OCBs arise, or old OCBs re-emerge.
