Esta frase de Jorge Luis Borges, sacada de su ensayo temprano "e;Historia de la eternidad"e;, bien podria resumir la actitud con que Friedrich Nietzsche, Ludwig Wittgenstein o Jacques Lacan se acercaron a la busqueda milenaria de la verdad que al menos en Occidente se asocia con el nombre de la filosofia. Entre 1992 y 1996 Alain Badiou se dedico a sistematizar tal actitud describiendola como tipica de la "e;antifilosofia"e;, termino que el filosofo frances retoma de Lacan, quien a su vez la habia tomado prestada de los enemigos del pensamiento materialista y ateo en torno a la Revolucion francesa. En dialogo con el pensamiento de Badiou, Bruno Bosteels aqui investiga el belicoso placer que les causa a los antifilosofos apoderarse de las armas de la filosofia para volverlas contra los filosofos. Y termina preguntandose si no hay tambien una tentacion antifilosofica presente en el propio Badiou. Bruno Bosteels es profesor de humanidades en Columbia University en Nueva York.
