The parallels between the characters and the plots, especially in the outcome of both short stories, make Katherine Mansfield suspicious of having committed plagiarism. Anton Chekhov s short stories were first welcomed in England and America just after the turn of the century as examples of late nineteenth-century realism [...]. Characterised as slices of life they could have served as patterns or examples for Mansfield s stories, which are characterised in the same way. In so far she writes at least in Chekhov s tradition. She could have read Sleepy at Queen s College as early as 1903, when [...] her literary interest was expending. The question of plagiarism will be answered in the conclusion of this paper, when the differences and similarities are worked out properly.

In short time, thousands of websites appeared on the internet and are still online, each offering its own truth about what had happened: Some claim having seen Satan himself in the flames and the smoke that rose from the burning twin towers, saying that the attack was just the beginning of the end of the world. Others use anti-Semitist sentiments and report about a Jewish plot following Zionist ideology. Again others blame the US-government for not preventing or even carrying out the attacks in order to justify their later wars on the Taliban regime and on Iraq. Some even talk about the involvement of an alien race. This seminar paper will begin by providing a theoretical background on conspiracy theories and suppose a thesis how those theories influence people and seduce them to believe. Rhetorical features will be taken into account as well as psychological features. After the outlining of the theoretical background, an overview of several conspiracy theories, connected with the events of September 11th 2001, will be given. Each theory will be individually discussed and examined in regard of its use of language and how historical facts and findings are mixed up with cliches and biased subjective opinions of the authors. In the end there will possibly be a common scheme to identify of how the writers and publishers of such theories succeed in winning so many supporters.

This attitude leads us to the task of this seminar paper. It will examine some of the theological and philosophical elements, which appear in the text, and how the author's personal confession influenced their use. Furthermore, as a result, we will see in how far this piece of literature can be regarded as serious criticism of religion.

Boy, is this too pretentious or what?"e; [...]The idea of projecting problems of the present into the future has its genesisin Edward Bellamy s Looking Backward 2000-18875. Unlike famous dystopias likeAldous Huxley s Brave New World, George Orwell s 1984, H.G. Wells Time Machine, or Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, Looking Backward draws a positive picture of the future in order to encourage his coevals to work towards the society he depicts. In contrast to that, dystopias use current events, like technological breakthroughs or political changes, consider a possible development and present aworst case scenario, which needs to be avoided. In the next two chapters it will bediscussed whether Futurama stands in a dystopian tradition and in how far allusionsto possible literary and other archetypes are important.

Israelis und Palästinenser verhandeln seit 1991 vergeblich über eine Friedenslösung in Nahost. Die Verhandlungen haben dabei eine solche Komplexität erlangt, dass eine Nachverfolgung immer schwieriger wird. Christian Schlegel nutzt die Methode der nichtkooperativen Spieltheorie, um die Kernfragen der Auseinandersetzungen seit der Konferenz von Madrid vereinfacht darzustellen und dadurch entscheidende Zusammenhänge freizulegen. Doch nicht nur das: Die Methode macht es möglich, klare Empfehlungen zum Friedensprozess zwischen Israelis und Palästinensern abzuleiten. Für einen israelisch-palästinensischen Frieden muss zunächst eine innerpalästinensische Einigung zwischen Hamas und Fatah erzielt werden. Israel muss also die Gespräche mit der Hamas intensivieren, um Möglichkeiten für Verhandlungen auszuloten. Diese Untersuchung ist eine bislang nicht existierende chronologische Auseinandersetzung mit dem meistbeachteten Konflikt unserer Zeit und beinhaltet Erkenntnisse, die einen tiefen Einblick in die Zusammenhänge des Nahost-Konflikts ermöglichen.

Das Rettungswesen der DDR unterschied sich erheblich von dem heutigen, bundesdeutschen Rettungsdienst. In dieser Untersuchung wird das System in seiner Entwicklung vom Kriegsende bis zum Ende der DDR 1990 ausfuhrlich geschildert. Dabei werden die Strukturen von Dringlich Medizinischer Hilfe"e; (DMH) und Schneller Medizinischer Hilfe"e; (SMH) sowie die genutzten Fahrzeuge und die Kompetenzen des eingesetzten Personals vorgestellt. Abschlieend wird aufgezeigt, welche Elemente des vergangenen Systems eventuell vorschnell abgeschafft wurden und fur den deutschen Rettungsdienst von heute eine sinnvolle Erganzung darstellen konnten.
