Das zweibändige Standardwerk liefert umfassend kompaktes Grundlagenwissen zum Thema Stahlbau.

Der 2. Teil des zweibändigen Werkes „Stahlbau“ wurde stark überarbeitet und erweitert. Bei der Überarbeitung wurden die Inhalte den neuen Erkenntnissen der Technik angepasst, die sich unter anderem in den 2012 bauaufsichtlich eingeführten EUROCODES wiederspiegeln. Diese sind nun - in jeweils aktueller Fassung - durchgängig Grundlage aller Ausführungen dieses Buches. So, wie die Normung in Ihrem Umfang zugenommen hat, wurden auch die Inhalte des Buches zum Teil stark erweitert, der bewährte Aufbau aber weitgehend beibehalten.

Neben der Anpassung an den aktuellen Stand der Technik ging es den neu hinzugekommenen Verfassern, Prof. Laumann und Prof. Wolf, bei der Überarbeitung vor allem auch darum, noch stärker als bisher die Prinzipien und Methoden zu vermitteln und zu erläutern, die für das Verständnis und die Lösung von baupraktischen Problemstellungen notwendig sind.
