To what extent do minority writers feel represented by the literary canon of a nation and its body of "great works"? To what extent do they adhere to, or contest, the supposedly universal values conveyed through those texts and how do they situate their own works within the national tradition? Building on Edward W. Said’s contrapuntal readings and Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak’s reflections on the voice of the subaltern, this monograph examines the ways in which Rafik Schami, Emine Sevgi Özdamar, and Feridun Zaimoglu have re-read, challenged, and adapted the German canon. Similar to other writers in postcolonial contexts, their work on the canon entails an inquiry into history and a negotiation of their relation to the texts and representations that define the "host" nation. Through close analyses of the works of these non-native German authors, the book investigates the intersection between politics, ethics, and aesthetics in their work, focusing on the appropriation and re-evaluation of cultural legacies in German-language literature. Opening up a rich critical dialogue with scholars of German Studies and Postcolonial Theory, Christine Meyer provides a fresh perspective on German-language minority literature since the reunification.

Soziale Arbeit ist eine personenbezogene Arbeit. Sie vollzieht sich im Wesentlichen zwischen Personen, wovon in der Regel eine hilfebedürftig und die andere unterstützend bzw. anleitend ist. Personen als beruflich Tätige bzw. Handelnde sind damit das wichtigste Medium in der Sozialen Arbeit. Dieses Buch greift erstmalig diesen Themenbereich sowohl aus der Historie und Theorie als auch im Hinblick auf die diversen Tätigkeitsfelder auf. Gleichzeitig wird der Frage der Qualifizierung der Erzieherpersönlichkeiten nachgegangen und wie sich diese über die Berufsjahre hinweg erhalten lässt.

Mit jeder angebotenen Mahlzeit in sozialpädagogischen Institutionen entstehen besondere soziale Situationen, in denen soziale Gruppen Zugehörigkeit erfahren können. Die Einführung liefert erstmals einen Überblick aus sozialpädagogischer Perspektive auf das komplexe Thema und dazugehörigen Aspekten, wie z.B. Ernährungsweisen, Esskulturen, Ernährungserziehung.

Das Lehrbuch bietet einen Einstieg in die elementare Verbindung Sozialer Arbeit mit dem menschlichen Nahrungsbedürfnis. Gegenwärtig ist Hunger als menschliches Grundbedürfnis in der Sozialen Arbeit zur Nebensache geworden, obwohl beide konstitutiv miteinander verbunden sind. Aufgaben Sozialer Arbeit liegen, offensichtlich vor allem in den historischen Vorläufern, in der Befriedigung menschlicher Grundbedürfnisse.

Die Einführung liefert erstmals einen Überblick über die vielschichtigen Aspekte Sozialer Arbeit im Hinblick auf die Befriedigung des Hungerbedürfnisses in gesellschafts-historischer Hinsicht sowie in verschiedenen Konstellationen Sozialer Arbeit und greift zudem den Schwerpunkt machtmissbräuchlicher Zusammenhänge in erzieherischen Kontexten auf. In Abhängigkeit von gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen und daraus entstehenden Lebenslagen gehören Hunger bzw. Ernährungsarmut wiederkehrend zu den bedeutenden Herausforderungen und müssen als solche im sozialpädagogischen Denken integriert und im Handeln reflektiert werden. Dieses Lehrbuch liefert Zusammenhänge und Anregungen für neue Zugänge in diesem Bereich.

The textbook offers an introduction to the elementary connection between social work and the human need for food. At present, hunger as a basic human need has become a secondary issue in social work, although the two are constitutively linked. The tasks of social work lie in the fulfilment of basic human needs, especially in its historical predecessors.

For the first time, this introduction provides an overview of the multi-layered aspects of social work with regard to satisfying the need for hunger in socio-historical terms and in various constellations of social work, and also focuses on the abuse of power in educational contexts. Depending on social developments and the resulting life situations, hunger and food poverty are recurring major challenges and as such must be integrated into socio-educational thinking and reflected in action. This textbook provides contexts and suggestions for new approaches in this area.
