If you are responsible for oak management, Managing Oak Forests in the Eastern United States is for you. It is the definitive practical guide for anyone interested in improving stewardship of eastern oak forests. Organized into three sections, the first section, "Background and Biology: Setting the Stage," helps you establish a solid understanding of the history and ecology of eastern oak ecosystems. It examines the question "Why do we manage oaks?" and looks at some of the challenges faced in oak management such as fire, wildlife management, and oak regeneration. It also provides a description and distribution of oak forests across the eastern United States and discusses the biology of oaks. The second section, "Silviculture: What Is in the Tool Box," gives you a practical understanding of how management can be implemented in eastern oak forests. It covers natural regeneration, artificial regeneration, and use of prescribed fires, competition control, and intermediate treatments. The third and final section, "Managing Oaks: How Do I Make It Work for Me?" helps you clarify your objectives and chart a course to bring about the desired outcomes for the forests you are managing. This section assists you in evaluating your progress in managing your oaks and what changes you will need to make. It provides details on management objectives for upland oaks, woodlands and savannahs, and bottomland oaks. It also gives you guidance on managing deer impacts on oak forests. The last chapter is specifically designed to help you get started.

This book presents a timely analysis of the psychological influences, underpinnings, and predictors of non-consensual image-based sexual offending (NCIBSO), such as revenge pornography, cyber-flashing, deepfake media production and upskirting. In this rapidly expanding field, this book offers a novel perspective that encompasses both a forensic psychoanalytic analysis of offending behaviours and an examination of the influence of our use of online environments and digital platforms on these behaviours. The authors begin by outlining the historical and legal context before moving on to a critique of previously posited motivating factors. Rather than conceptualising NCIBSO in purely gendered terms, they demonstrate the potential for a psychological framework to facilitate a better understanding of how and why people engage in a range of non-consensual sexual image offences. In doing so it will provide fresh insights for policymakers and clinicians, in addition to scholars from across thefields of psychology, sociology, criminology, law, media and gender studies.

This book offers a collection of original contributions to the current literature on the role of the internet in understanding contemporary issues in sexual offending. The book explores the theoretical underpinnings of the effect of the internet on the development of sexual deviance, before looking at more applied topics including online sexual offending against children and sextortion. Contemporary topics such as image-based sexual abuse, dating app-facilitated violence, and groups referred to as ‘incels’ are also explored. The book is relevant to psychologists, criminologists, social workers and students, as well as practitioners and the general public.

This book captures the experience of transitioning from prison to the community, the tensions between risk management, public protection and enabling flourishing in those that have been released from prison. It explores what is required for successful community re-entry for men with sexual convictions, examines barriers as men (re)integrate and the ways in which men can be assisted with desistance. Combining empirical chapters, theoretical reviews, service-user voices and a consideration of the latest approach to community reintegration, this book will be relevant to psychologists, criminologists, social workers, practitioners and students. It highlights experiences of transition from prison to the community, the barriers and challenges to (re)integration, but also how we can move forward, how we can help men live meaningful pro-social lives and in doing so fulfil the goal of reducing sexual (re) victimisation.
