This volume collects papers that bring Germanic philology into the 21st century. The collection is distinguished by a multitude of approaches ranging from critical editing to theoretical linguistics. The volume is inspired by the work and teaching of Kari Ellen Gade, one of the most accomplished scholars of Old Norse philology, and the breadth of these contributions confirms her conviction that a philological interpretation of early poetry, literature, and language requires both a mastery and coordination of many subdisciplines.
