Harnessing Nanoscale Surface Interactions: Contemporary Synthesis, Applications and Theory provides coverage of contemporary theoretical and experimental approaches to understanding the interactions of molecules with nanomaterial surfaces and how to utilize these processes for improved synthesis and application of materials. The book reviews recently developed theoretical techniques to explore bonding interactions in nanoclusters and small molecules, along with modern molecular dynamics approaches for investigation adsorption of large molecules on nanomaterials. Novel experimental approaches are described that provide improved control of the synthesis of metal nanoparticles and measurement of their absorption properties.
The potential for nanomaterials to address a range of environmental problems is also demonstrated by a selection of specific applications. Chapters discuss experimental synthesis approaches, experimental analysis and applications, and theoretical approaches for harnessing nanoscale surface interactions.
Includes exploration of the latest theoretical techniques, including regional density functional theory and molecular dynamics simulations Addresses nanoscale interfaces and how they relate to the toxicity of nanomaterials, crucial for potential diagnosis and medical applications419 kr

This book gives voice to justice-involved Canadian youth and young adults by sharing their views on their journey towards desistance from crime and social and community (re)integration.
Building on interviews with 140 justice-involved youth and young adults (aged 16 to 35), the book explores the challenges they faced while they were under the control of the justice system, the ways in which they navigated the obstacles they came up against, and the support they needed to overcome them. What and who they consider to be facilitators in their journeys is presented. The book also examines experiences of assisted desistance in different settings, such as incarceration, addiction services, and community supervision. What distinguishes this book is its focus on how justice-involved youth and young adults perceive their own experiences of desistance from crime and social and community (re)integration.
An accessible and compelling read, Understanding Desistance from Crime and Social and Community (Re)Integration will be of interest to those engaged with desistance studies, rehabilitation, re-entry, juvenile and adult justice, and recovery from addiction.

The motion of water is governed by a set of mathematical equations which are extremely complicated and intractable. This is not surprising when one considers the highly diverse and intricate physical phenomena which may be exhibited by a given body of water. Recent mathematical advances have enabled researchers to make major progress in this field, reflected in the topics featured in this volume.
Cutting-edge techniques and tools from mathematical analysis have generated strong rigorous results concerning the qualitative and quantitative physical properties of solutions of the governing equations. Furthermore, accurate numerical computations of fully-nonlinear steady and unsteady water waves in two and three dimensions have contributed to the discovery of new types of waves. Model equations have been derived in the long-wave and modulational regime using Hamiltonian formulations and solved numerically.
This book brings together interdisciplinary researchers working in the field of nonlinear water waves, whose contributions range from survey articles to new research results which address a variety of aspects in nonlinear water waves. It is motivated by a workshop which was organised at the Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics in Vienna, November 27-December 7, 2017. The key aim of the workshop was to describe, and foster, new approaches to research in this field. This is reflected in the contents of this book, which is aimed to stimulate both experienced researchers and students alike.
