ALGORITMER I Fronesis nr 64–65 undersöker vi med hjälp av en rad nyskrivna och översatta texter algoritmer ur olika samhällsteoretiska infallsvinklar. Genom att belysa sociala och politiska aspekter av teknikutvecklingen som ofta förbises i den dagliga debatten hoppas vi kunna bidra till en fördjupad diskussion om algoritmernas roll i vår gemensamma framtid. Begrepp som algoritmer och AI har ofta något av ett mystiskt skimmer av ogenomtränglighet kring sig. Några av numrets texter närmar sig algoritmer som kulturella objekt. Ian Bogosts text »Datavetenskapens domkyrka« belyser samtidens närmast religiösa dyrkan av algoritmer och big data. Andra texter i numret tar ett avmystifierande grepp, som fysikern Christina Gratorps essä »Molnets materialitet«, som stegvis blottlägger det digitala molnets materiella förutsättningar. Ett annat tema rör algoritmernas roll i klassificeringen av sociala data.
