Christianity has changed. Formerly known as the religion of Europe and North America, it is now a religion of the Global South: Asia, Africa, and Latin America. However, Christianity has never been merely a Western phenomenon – it has always been a borderless religion. Indeed, in six of the world’s eight cultural blocks, Christianity is the largest faith. With convenient maps, helpful statistics, and concise histories of each of the world’s major cultural blocks, The Changing World of Christianity is a dynamic guide for understanding Christianity’s new ethos. From Ireland to Papua New Guinea, Argentina to China, South Africa to Russia, this book provides a clear and encyclopedic look at Christianity, the world’s largest and most global religion.

This lively book not only unpacks the history of Christianity, but also explains how church history is created and organized. Different from traditional church history textbooks, the book:Has a global emphasis, rather than an exclusively Euro-American one;Explains the discipline of church history in addition to the content; Is readable, engaging, and inviting to new students; Makes church history accessible rather than stressing obscure dates and names. Conceptually, this book is revolutionary. The story of Christianity is never complete: it only expands. By allowing fresh players into the story, broadening our perspective to include women, the working class, heretics, and priests outside mainstream «orthodoxy,» we become open to new ways of understanding. And these new perspectives enhance our comprehension of the endlessly surprising story of Christianity's past.

It is very possible that the Book of James is the oldest book of the New Testament. Written by the brother of Jesus, the book has a very Jewish feel to it. James was the leader of the Jerusalem church, and was deeply respected in early Christianity. Sometimes, the book of James is called "e;the Proverbs of the New Testament"e; because of its witty expressions and creative analogies for living a life modeled on the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Book of James is powerful. Its famous lines are often memorized. This book will take you deep into the Book of James so that you can live a life that is more fully devoted to following Jesus Christ as Lord.

As human beings, we chase things, deceiving ourselves that once we get them, we'll have true satisfaction and joy. But when we get those things, that person, that salary, we are bluntly reminded that people and things don't provide inner joy. Why? Inner joy comes from someplace else. Inner joy comes only from the Lord. Some of you have been in a season of struggle. Some of you are just now emerging from a "e;dark night of the soul."e; Some of you are walking through "e;the valley of the shadow of death"e; so to speak. But you know what? "e;There will be joy in the morning."e; Psalm 30:5 (KJV) says this: "e;Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."e; Yes … there will be joy … in the morning. As a child of God, you must cling on to that hope—that joy will come. It will eventually come. In that same Psalm (30:2-3, 11), David says this (NIV): 2 Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. 3 You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy. Don't give up. There is a morning that is coming. And there will be joy in the morning.
