The aim of the book is to introduce new developments in Ambient Intelligence from researchers of several countries. The book includes different works in the area of Ubiquitous Computing, e-Health, Ambient Assisted Living, Distributed Computing and Context Aware Computing that have been selected by an international committee. The studies have been presented in the 9th International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence held in Toledo in June 2018.

This book presents the latest research on Ambient Intelligence including software and applications. Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is a paradigm emerging from Artificial Intelligence, in which computers are used as proactive tools for assisting people with their day-to-day activities, making everyone’s lives more comfortable. Another main concern of AmI originates from the human–computer interaction domain and focuses on offering ways to interact with systems in a more natural way by means of user-friendly interfaces. This field is evolving rapidly, as can be seen in emerging natural language and gesture-based types of interaction. 

This symposium was jointly organized by the Universidade do Minho, Technical University of Valencia, Hiroshima University, and University of Salamanca. The latest installment was held in Ávila, Spain, from 26th to 28th June 2019. The conference was held in Sevilla, Spain, in November/December 2022.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th European Conference on Software Architecture, ECSA 2024, held in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, during September 2–6, 2024.

The 14 full research papers, 3 experience report papers, 7 short papers and 3 industry papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 89 submissions

They were organized in topical sections as follows: Architecture modeling and design; Architecture evaluation; Microservices architecture; Sustainability; Trustworthiness; Architecture decision making; and Architecture documentation.

Research on Agents and Multi-agent Systems has matured during the last decade and many effective applications of this technology are now deployed. PAAMS provides an international forum to presents and discuss the latest scientific developments and their effective applications, to assess the impact of the approach, and to facilitate technology transfer. PAAMS started as a local initiative, but since grown to become the international yearly platform to present, to discuss, and to disseminate the latest developments and the most important outcomes related to real-world applications. It provides a unique opportunity to bring multi-disciplinary experts, academics and practitioners together to Exchange their experience in the development and deployment of Agents and Multi-agents systems. PAAMS intends to bring together researchers and developers from industry and the academic world to report on the latest scientific and technical advances on the application of multi-agent systems, to discuss and debate the major issues, and to showcase the latest systems using agent based technology. It will promote a forum for discussion on how agent based techniques, methods and tools help system designers to accomplish the mapping between available agent technology and application needs. Other stakeholders should be rewarded with a better understanding of the potential and challenges of the agent-oriented approach.

This edition of PAAMS special sessions is organized by the Bioinformatics, Intelligent System and Educational Technology Research Group (http://bisite.usal.es) of the University of Salamanca. The present edition was held in Salamanca, Spain, from 22nd to 24th May 2013.
