What’s so unique about the houses of London? With row upon row of brick terraces, how do the capital’s most stylish people make their homes stand out? And how do those living in conversions amplify their craft to design interiors that are truly distinctive? House London showcases 50 of the most inspiring contemporary interiors in the city today. Created by some of the best designers, architects and creatives around, this book celebrates the amazing variety and vision that lies behind sometimes quite ordinary facades.Writer Ellie Stathaki (of Wallpaper*) and photographer Anna Stathaki explore different interior styles and show the very best of London homes – from the surprising interiors of humble terraces, to extraordinary conversions showcasing the height of luxury. Some homes will provide worthy inspiration, and others a level of drama most of us can only dream of.With beautiful photography throughout, each home draws on something uniquely ‘London’ and supporting text profiles home owners, architects and designers and highlights the architectural bones that make up the home. This book will be a must have for anyone who loves snooping around beautiful homes, or looking for design inspiration.

Close to nature, sustainable, healthy, social, spectacular...We ask a lot of our future homes and the architects that design them.Over time, innovative domestic design has taken many forms. Different eras, shaped by specific needs, challenges and opportunities, have given their own interpretation of this most essential of buildings – the home – defining what it could look like, what it might signify and how it should function.Today, new challenges have emerged within this dynamic landscape, including climate change, the pursuit of diversity and equity across society and the role of emerging technologies, such as AI. The needs of today – and therefore the house of tomorrow – require human-centric and context-responsive solutions, grounded in resilience and responsibility, without compromising on visual appeal and aspiration.Future Homes showcases diverse, cutting-edge case studies of homes that both address issues of our times and look stunning while doing it. As well as an inspirational showcase of architecture that leads the way into the future, the designs offer valuable insights into how we can find balance and refuge in a rapidly changing and volatile world.Featuring: Exemplary projects from countries around the world, including: Australia, Canada, Ecuador, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the UK and Vietnam.Insights from leading practices: ao-ft, Archio, Architecture for London, Fernanda Canales, Gbolade Design Studio, Knox Bhavan, Omar Ghandi, Shahira Fahmy, State of Kin, Studio Bark and Worofila.Rich, full-colour photography, drawings and plans throughout.

Studio MK27, located in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, was founded in the late 70s by architect Marcio Kogan who is now partner of Diana Radomysler, Renata Furlanetto, Suzana Glogowski, and Mariana Simas. They lead a team comprised of 50 architects, most of whom have been together for over a decade. While trying to keep it simple, Studio MK27 blurs the boundaries between the built and natural environments, building stories and shaping spaces through a meticulous process of design with great attention to textures and details. The book features over 20 projects situated in different contexts all over the world, from the Brazilian countryside, passing through the urban context of Madrid, the snowy mountains of Whistler until an entire island built in Maldives. The book is organized into sections that will guide the reader from a macro to micro perspective of the Studio s work: Inside-out, Narrative, Light, Texture and Body especially dedicated to the partnership with Minotti. Kogan is an honorary member of the AIA (American Institute of Architects), Professor at Politecnico di Milano Polo Mantova, and on the board of Museum of Art of Sao Paulo (MASP) and the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture and Ecology (MUBE). Since 2001, the practice has won over 250 international awards, representing Brazil at the Venice Biennale of 2012, ranking 39th in Dezeen s Hotlist 2017, and including Wallpaper Design Awards.
