Der Laubacher Justizinspektor Friedrich Kellner wollte der Nachwelt ein Zeugnis ablegen von der gedankenlosen Unterwürfigkeit seiner Zeitgenossen und den hohlen nationalsozialistischen Propagandaphrasen. Von 1939 bis 1945 schrieb er beinahe täglich seine Kritik am NS-Regime nieder und dokumentierte die vielen kleinen und großen Verbrechen der NS-Diktatur. Diese Tagebücher zeigen, dass jeder in der Lage gewesen wäre, die nationalsozialistische Rhetorik zu entlarven und von den Gräueltaten des "Dritten Reiches" zu wissen.
