Mit dem Zusammenbruch des staatssozialistischen Modells hätten liberale Demokratie und Marktwirtschaft den endgültigen Sieg über ihren größten Gegner errungen. Seine politische Autorität ist geschwunden, da er sich als unfähig erwiesen hat, den Lebensstandard der Mehrheit zu verbessern. Für die nahe Zukunft prophezeien die Verfasser drei miteinander konkurrierende Ideologien. Erstens ein Modell des Staatskapitalismus unter einer Mitte-Rechts-Koalition.
