For The Dove Descending, a collection of eminent theologians, poets, priests and thinkers came together to consider the immersive, irreducible vision of the Holy Spirit and His presence in Christ, the Scriptures, the Church, the Saints, the Father, and the world. The collected articles from the Pusey House Conference 2022 draw from a rich history of theological and literary figures - from Augustine of Hippo to Hans Urs von Balthasar, from John Milton to T.S. Eliot - whilst continually centring vigorous and incisive scriptural analysis. Crystalising around the third article of the creed, the communion of the Holy Spirit, these articles explore the centrality of the sacraments, the necessity of yielding any possession of the spirit, and the recognition of Christ in the Holy Spirit, and, through Him, in the other. These papers, published here for the first time, are a crucial read for any academic, theologian or curious Christian, illuminating the complexity in envisioning the Spirit alongside the hope for the future His presence represents.

The study of Christian theology in the last half century has seen a major renaissance in Trinitarian thought which has attempted to connect Trinitarian theology to all aspects of Christian faith and practice. This revival has often addressed the unfortunate split which has haunted much modern theological endeavour between theology and both prayer and practice, the disjunction between thought about God and the movement of the heart toward God in transformed lives. With contributions from Oliver O' Donovan, Rowan Williams, Andrew Louth and Ayla Lepine 'A Transforming Vision' explores what it means to know and love the Triune God, and how the knowledge of God can be a transforming and saving knowledge.

The title ‘the Son of Man’ evokes the different aspects of the whole Christ: the humanity and divinity of Christ, his earthly ministry, his sacramental presence, and the eschatological consummation of his work. It is also a term of relationship, suggestive of both the relations constitutive of the life of the Holy Trinity, and also of the way that our knowing and loving the Son of Man is always an invitation to communion - with the Triune God, as the Body of Christ, and for the life of the world. Contributors to this collection explore some of the many registers of the mystery of Christ, both historically and thematically. Contributors include some of today’s leading theological thinkers, including N.T. Wright, Rowan Williams, Lydia Schumacher, Kallistos Ware and Oliver O’Donovan. With poetic reflections from Malcolm Guite.Chapters include: "Son of Man and the New Creation" (N.T. Wright), "The Son of Man in the Gospel of John" (John Behr), "Sound and Silence in Augustine’s Christological Exegesis" (Carol Harrison), "According to the Flesh?: The Problem of Knowing Christ in Chalcedonian Perspective" (Ian Mcfarland), "Christ and the Moral Life" (Oliver O'Donovan), "Christ and the Poetic Imagination" (Malcolm Guite)
