Während bei der innerbetrieblichen Standortplanung (IBSP) in der Praxis meist der Zwang zu gleichzeitiger Betrachtung mehrerer Gesichtspunkte besteht, hat man sich in der Theorie bislang fast ausschließlich auf einen einzigen konzentriert. Einfache Ansätze zur Beachtung mehrerer Ziele finden sich lediglich bei F. Schmidt, der simultan Kostensummen und Wertzahlsummen berücksichtigt, und bei Muther und Haganäs, die eine Vorstufe von multiattributiven Nutzen­ überlegungen ins Spiel bringen. Das besondere Verdienst des Verfassers besteht nun darin, in der vorliegenden Monographie sehr konsequent und überzeugend auf eine allgemeine Multikriteria-Behandlung des innerbetrieblichen Standort­ problems hinzuarbeiten. Die Einführung in Teil I schließt einen kurzen Abriß über die Geschichte der Standortplanung von theoretischer Analyse über empirisch-deskriptive Orientie­ rung bis zu den praktisch-normativen (präskriptiven) Ansätzen und Dialogpro­ grammen ein. Teil 11 dient vor allem den begrifflichen und sachlichen Abgrenzun­ gen bei der innerbetrieblichen Standortplanung. In Teil 111 schließt sich eine gründliche Diskussion über Ziele und Restriktionen der innerbetrieblichen Standortplanung an, was sich als unbedingt erforderlich erweist, weil sich die Grenzen zwischen Zielen und Restriktionen verwischen können. Das Referat über die traditionellen IBSP-Ansätze in dem umfangreichsten Teil IV ist bereichert durch eigene Ideen, Gesichtspunkte und kritische Auseinandersetzungen des Verfassers.

This volume contains selected papers presented at the International Conference on Operations Research SOR 2002 held at the University of Klagenfurt from Sep- tember 2 to September 5, 2002. The conference was organized under the auspices of the German, the Swiss and the Austrian Operations Research societies - Gesellschaft fiir Operations Research e.V. (GOR) - Schweizerische Vereinigung fiirOperations Research (SVOR) - Osterreichische Gesellschaft fiirOperations Research (OGOR). After Vienna (1990), Berlin (1994) and Ziirich (1998) this has been the fourth time that the three societies organized ajoint conference. The conference was attended by more than 400 participants from countries all over the world which demonstrates the broad interest in all aspects ofOperations Research. The scientific program of the conference consisted of 4 plenary lectures, 5 semi plenary lectures, and about 320 contributed papers which have been presented in 16 sections. Due to the limited number of pages available for the proceedings vol- ume, the length of each article as well as the total number ofcontributions had to be restricted.The decision on the acceptance of papers for the proceedings has been made in close eo operation with the section chairmen and was based on their suggestions. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the chairmen for supporting our editorial work by refereeing the manuscripts and letting us have their advice. We also would like to thank Dr. Wemer Muller from Springer-Verlag for his support in publishing this proceedings volume so quickly.

This volume contains a selection of manuscripts referring to lectures presented at the Symposium on Operations Research 1999 (SOR'99) held at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Sep- tember 1 -3, 1999. This international conference took place under the auspices of the German OR society (GOR), and it was the first one organized in Germany since the foundation of GOR by merger of the two predecessor societies (DGOR and GMOOR) in 1998. The Symposium had 420 participants from 22 countries around the world. It attracted academicians and practitioners working in various fields of Operations Research and provided them with the most recent developments and advances in the full spectrum of Operations Research and related areas in economics, mathematics, and computer science. The selection of contributions to SOR'99 accepted by the program committee and the invited pa- pers formed a program which consisted of 265 lectures in 19 sections, including 2 plenary and 19 semi plenary presentations. 119 manuscripts were submitted for publication in the proceedings vo- lume.Due to the page limit for this volume and in order to insure a high quality level of the OR Proceedings a further review procedure had to take place which was strongly supported by the sec- tion chairpersons. It resulted in a selection of 87 manuscripts which are now presented in this volume.
