Esta obra nos ofrece un acercamiento a la encíclica Laudato si, del Papa Francisco, para facilitarnos su comprensión y lectura meditada. Los comentarios están realizados por seis personalidades comprometidas con la Iglesia y con la ecología: Leonardo Boff, uno de los máximos exponentes de la teología de la liberación, define la encíclica como la «carta magna de la ecología integral» (que va más allá dice de la ecología ambiental); el misionero comboniano Alex Zanotelli afronta la repercusión de la crisis ecológica sobre los pueblos empobrecidos; el jesuita y economista francés Gaël Giraud analiza la encíclica desde la perspectiva de la economía; los sociólogos Chiara Giaccardi y Mauro Magatti señalan los retos que deben afrontarse para la educación en el cuidado de la creación, y, por último, el jesuita y periodista Giacomo Costa propone algunas acciones para poner en práctica la encíclica Laudato si.

This book gives an overview of the present trends in a rapidly growing interdisciplinary field, namely the research and development of biosensors. It focuses on the development of new biosensors which combine the sensitivity and specificity of biological systems (enzymes, immunosystems, microbial cells, tissue, plants, etc.) with the efficiency of electrochemical transducers. The molecular mechanisms of the processes in biosensors as well as the new methods for transduction and immobilization of biosystems are described in detail. Also, important fields of application are evaluated, i.e. medicinal chemistry including in vivo monitoring, environment pollution monitoring, biotechnology process control, determination of food contaminants and food quality control.

This symposium is the first scientific event organized by the “Seminar for Epistemology” under the auspices of the University of Trieste. The aim of the symposium was to collect and open to discussion the contributions of a number of distinguished scientists from cognitive sciences and experimental nature sciences and to bring together specialists of various backgrounds.The very authoritative contributions presented at the Conference represent relevant, even if not exhaustive, specimens of the role of new conceptual tools in science.

The symposium is an attempt to offer perspectives and paradigms in science, which point out novel characters of natural processes. These issues are presented by outstanding scientists selected in the most advanced fields of science, from various points of the scientific horizon and with widely different new experimental evidence.
