Palliative care is the duty of every neurologist: however, to date, this has not been a standard feature of neurological practice or training. Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or motor neurone disease) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that can cause profound suffering for both the patient and their family.
