This text addresses the problem of efficient implementation of logic programming languages, specifically Prolog, on multiprocessor architectures. The approaches and implementations developed attempt to take full advantage of sequential implementation technology developed for Prolog (such as the WAM) while exploiting all forms of control parallelism present in logic programs, namely, or-parallelism, independent and-parallelism and dependent and-parallelism. Coverage includes a thorough survey of parallel implementation techniques and parallel systems developed for Prolog. "Multiprocessor Execution of Logic Programs" is recommended for people implementing parallel logic programming systems, parallel symbolic systems, parallel AI systems, and parallel theorem proving systems. It will also be useful to people who wish to learn about the implementation of parallel logic programming systems.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 23rd International Symposium on Logic-Based Program Synthesis and Transformation, LOPSTR 2013, held in Madrid, Spain, in September 2013.The 13 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 21 submissions during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. LOPSTR traditionally solicits papers in the areas of specification, synthesis, verification, transformation, analysis, optimization, composition, security, reuse, applications and tools, component-based software development, software architectures, agent-based software development, and program refinement.

This volume contains the proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Logic Programming which was held in Sitges (Barcelona), Spain, from October 2nd to 5th, 2005. The conference was colocated with the International Conf- ence on ConstraintProgramming(CP 2005)and the following 6 post-conference workshops: - CICLOPS 2005: Colloquium on Implementation of Constraint and Logic Programming Systems - CSLP 2005: Constraint Solving and Language Processing - WCB 2005: Constraint Based Methods for Bioinformatics - WLPE 2005: Logic-Based Methods in Programming Environments - MoVeLog 2005: Mobile Code Safety and Program Veri?cation Using C- putational Logic Tools - CHR 2005: Constraint Handling Rules The conferencecoincided with a solareclipse, whichoccurredon October 3rd and was visible in Sitges. No conference activities were scheduled at the time of the eclipse to allow delegates to view this extraordinary astronomical event. Since the ?rst conference that was held in Marseilles in 1982, ICLP has been the premier international conference for presenting research in logic progr- ming.In this edition of the conference, extra attention was given to novel - plications of logic programming and to work providing novel integrations of di?erent areas. Colocation with CP 2005 further reinforced these themes, as it provided an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and cross-fertilization among two areaswhich havecommon roots. ICLP 2005and CP 2005sharedthe invited speakers to underscore this e?ort. ICLP 2005 broke new ground by holding a doctoral consortium for the ?rst time in the ICLP series of conference.

Logic programming refers to execution of programs written inHorn logic. Among the advantages of this style ofprogramming are its simple declarativeand proceduralsemantics, high expressive power and inherentnondeterminism. The papers included in this volume were presented at theWorkshop on Parallel Logic Programming held in Paris on June24, 1991, as part of the 8th International Conference onLogic Programming. The papers represent the state of the artin parallel logic programming, and report the currentresearch in this area, including many new results. The three essential issues in parallel execution of logicprograms which the papers address are:- Which form(s) of parallelism (or-parallelism,and-parallelism, stream parallelism, data-parallelism, etc.)will be exploited?- Will parallelism be explicitly programmed by programmers,or will it be exploited implicitly without their help?- Which target parallel architecture will the logicprogram(s) run on?

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First International Workshop on Practical Aspects of Declarative Languages, PADL'99, held in San Antonio, Texas, USA in January 1999.The 24 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 53 submissions; also included are abstracts of two invited talks. The papers are organized in topical sections on software engineering, innovative applications, implementation, declarative query processing, systems applications, analysis, constraint programming, and declarative languages and software engineering.
