Environmental issues are inherently interdisciplinary, and environmental academic programs increasingly use an interdisciplinary approach. This timely book presents a core framework for conducting high quality interdisciplinary research. It focuses on the opportunities rather than the challenges of interdisciplinary work and is written for those doing interdisciplinary work (rather than those studying it). It is designed to facilitate high quality interdisciplinary work and the author uses illustrative examples from student work and papers published in the environmental literature. This book's lucid, problem-solving approach is framed in an accessible easy-to-read style and will be indispensable for anyone embarking on a research project involving interdisciplinary collaboration. Readership: graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and researchers involved in the interface between human and natural environmental systems

Due to worldwide economical and political pressures, millions of people have emigrated in recent decades, and many countries have become increasingly multicultural. Cross-lingual and cross-cultural interactions are growing, both within and across nations. As a consequence, professionals in psychology, psychiatry, neurology and related fields have to take cultural factors into account as they diagnose and treat their patients. Clinicians have to develop cultural awareness, knowledge, and skills to work with clients whose cultural background is different fom their own, a development which poses great theoretical and practical challenges for the field of neuropsychology. This special issue is intended to contribute to the analysis of similarities and diferences in neuropsychological functions from memory span to moral judgement. It also addresses the question of how rehabilitation programs could be composed in different cultural settings. This special issue was accepted under the editorship of Laura Herández-Guzmán.

This volume explores the ethical dimensions of mathematics as experienced and articulated by doctoral students in mathematics and the sciences. As society becomes increasingly reliant on mathematical models, algorithms, and data, the ethical implications of how mathematics is used — and misused — are gaining urgency. Yet most scientists and mathematicians receive little formal training in ethical reflection.Responding to this gap, this collection presents a series of thoughtful and accessible essays written by students taking a mandatory course on the theory of science and ethics. The contributions span topics such as scientific responsibility, the ethics of mathematical modeling, decolonization of research, automation, and the moral obligations of mathematicians. Framed by an expert introduction and concluding analysis, the essays provide a rare and engaging entry point into a field where literature for students is still scarce.
