This book provides an exploration of China’s evolving role in global governance and sustainable development, offering unique insights from over thirty leading scholars from most leading universities in China and beyond. Through a multidisciplinary lens, the volume delves into key themes such as global financial systems, climate governance, transnational environmental policies, and China’s contributions to global infrastructure, health, and AI governance. It analyzes theoretical frameworks—such as "harmonious governance" and "a community with a shared future for mankind"—while assessing practical initiatives like the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and carbon trading schemes. The book also highlights intersections between state governance, migration, education, and gender equity, demonstrating how local and global governance interact in an increasingly interconnected world towards sustainable development goals. By bridging global perspectives from the North and South, this book addresses a crucial gap in understanding how the Global South, particularly China, contributes, influences and innovates global governance regimes. It is essential reading for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners in global governance, sustainable development, and public administration who seek a deeper understanding of China’s leadership and the future of equitable global governance.
