This outstanding new edition offers a comprehensive introduction to occupational therapy in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, framing the profession’s role within health systems as well as the breadth of its practice.

The book is divided into three sections: the first explores historical and contemporary contexts, including regulatory and professional frameworks; while the second addresses professional issues such as diverse client groups, collaborative partnerships, and core principles shaping practice. The final section focuses on practical issues, including assessment, assistive technology, primary health care, sustainability, health promotion, leadership, and practice management. Each chapter includes case studies, key concept explanations, and review questions, while an overarching theme is the building of respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Pacific and Māori communities, guided by principles of truth, recognition, and reconciliation.

Including a companion site with adaptable PowerPoint slides for lecturers and educators who adopt the edited text for education purposes, this is the complete resource for students beginning their journey toward becoming occupational therapists in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand.
