People working in development of drugs, pesticides, washing detergents, etc., are obliged by law to conduct analyses of the "metabolic pathways" or "maps" for the chemical compounds that they are using or proposing. Everyone in these industries or carrying out research toward such products is therefore interested in having a reference on these compounds.- Covers literature relating to degradation and metabolic profiles of molecules- Draws together the literature on degradation and metabolism patterns with that on diversified conditions of the environmental systems- Indicates 3D chemical structures, predicted physico-chemical parameters, logP and the SMILES chemical notations of the parent compounds to assist scientists design the lead compounds for new discovery using computer-aided technology

Metabolic Maps of Pesticides provides a summary of investigations and drawings of the metabolic patterns on pesticides that were collected with the aid of Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) for the years 1970-1979. Some maps were taken from the original reports, some were slightly modified for clarity, and some were tentatively drawn from descriptions in the original articles. The pesticides are classified based on their chemical structures as functional groups or based on common chemical nomenclature. The chemical classifications highlight the properties of the mother pesticides and the impact of their degenerative metabolites on the environment. Metabolic maps are provided for the following: acid amides, amidines and guanidines, anilines and nitrobenzenes, biphenyl ethers, DDT and its analogs, dithio- and thiolcarbamates, five- and six-membered heterocyclic compounds, imides, organochlorine compounds, oxime carbamates, phenoxyacetic acids, pheny ring fused five-membered heterocyclic compounds, phenyl(aryl) carbamates, phenylureas and related compounds, phosphonothiolates and phosphonothioates, phosphonates, phosphorothioamides, phosphates, phosphorothiolates, pyrethroids, pyridines, triazines, and substituted benzenes and miscellaneous compounds.

Metabolic Maps of Pesticides, Volume 2, provides a summary of investigations and drawings of the metabolic patterns on pesticides that drawn from references published from 1985-1986 concerning metabolic fates in mammalian, plant, bird, soil, microorganism systems; by physicochemical reactions such as hydrolysis, photolysis, and thermal degradation; or studies in model systems. Metabolic maps are provided for the following: acid amides, amidines and guanidines, anilines and nitrobenzenes, biphenyl ethers, DDT and its analogs, dithio- and thiolcarbamates, five- and six-membered heterocyclic compounds, imides, organochlorine compounds, oxime carbamates, phenoxyacetic acids, pheny ring fused five-membered heterocyclic compounds, phenyl(aryl) carbamates, phenylureas and related compounds, phosphonothiolates and phosphonothioates, phosphonates, phosphorothioamides, phosphates, phosphorothiolates, pyrethroids, pyridines, triazines, and substituted benzenes and miscellaneous compounds. This volume includes a Pesticide Activity Index to understand the biological activity of individual pesticides. These metabolic maps are useful not only to chemists and biochemists working in industries that supply new and improved pesticides worldwide but also to toxicologists and others interested in the biomedical field.

If you're working on or studying the effects of drug metabolisms, then this reference is for you!Handbook of Metabolic Pathways of Xenobiotics is an essential new reference which presents the metabolic fate of xenobiotics in animals and plants, and shows the metabolic pathways in the environment.Presenting a comprehensive guide to understanding the metabolisms of xenobiotics, the Handbook of Metabolic Pathways of Xenobiotics spans five volumes: Volumes 1-2 are Review Articles and Volumes 3-5 are Compound Articles. Review Articles present detailed reviews on the techniques and methods used to establish in vitro and in vivo metabolic pathways. Compound Articles are carefully selected lists of key chemicals representing agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, animal health products and industrial chemicals. An essential addition to every library, this introduction, guide and catalogue presents:Current topics in the metabolism of xenobioticsTopics of both scientific and regulatory importance are covered, including in vitro high throughput metabolism screens, computer-aided metabolism predictions, and advances in bioanalytical techniques.Techniques and methods used in metabolic pathways29 chapters provide an introduction to the understanding of drug metabolism and detail how to establish in vitro and in vivo metabolic pathways.Biotransformation pathwaysPresented as a catalogue of short articles covering major pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, animal health products and industrial chemicals. Each article summarizes the chemical properties and uses, and presents a detailed review of the chemical and metabolic pathways in soil, plants and animals.Over 450 examples of xenobiotics and their fate in animals and plantsEach compound includes systematic information about the metabolic pathway of drugs for human and veterinary medicine, agrochemicals and major industrial chemicals.Chemical and biological fate dataThe Handbook summarises data from scientific literature, patent literature, industrial resources and regulatory agencies, such as the EPA, FDA, EU, WHO and FAO, in a single reference for the first time.An essential reference for everyone working and studying pharmacokinetics and drug metabolismCoverage of the chemical and biological reactivity of molecules and primary sub-structures makes this an ideal reference for students and research scientists. The broad and diverse coverage of chemical and biological fate under different exposure and biological compartments make this a useful resource for regulatory and developmental scientists.
